Privacy Policy — Petal

The short version

Everything you record in Petal stays on your device. This version of the app has no servers, no accounts, no analytics and no advertising. We cannot see your data — nobody can, except you.

What data the app handles

Petal stores the information you choose to log: period dates, flow, symptoms, intimacy, moods, energy, sleep, pregnancy test results, pregnancy week, notes, and your app settings. All of it is stored only in the app’s private storage on your device. It is never transmitted to us or to any third party.

What we collect

Nothing. This version of the app:

• requires no account or registration,
• contains no analytics or tracking SDKs,
• contains no advertising SDKs and collects no advertising identifier,
• makes no network requests with your health data.

Notifications

Reminders are scheduled locally on your device from your own data. If you enable Discreet notifications, reminder wording never mentions periods or cycles. Notification content never leaves your device.

App lock

If you enable App lock, the app uses your device’s fingerprint, face recognition, or PIN via the operating system. Biometric data is handled entirely by your device’s OS; the app never sees or stores it.

Importing from other apps

The import feature reads a file you choose (for example an Apple Health export, a Clue export, or a CSV). The file is parsed on your device and nothing is uploaded. The app has no access to other apps’ data unless you hand it a file yourself.

Export and deletion

• Export: Settings → Privacy & data → Export data creates a JSON or CSV copy that you choose where to share or save. Once exported, protecting that copy is up to you.
• Deletion: Settings → Privacy & data → Delete all data permanently erases everything the app stores on your device. Uninstalling the app also removes all data.

Because there is no account and no cloud backup, deletion is immediate and irreversible — and we hold no copy to delete on our side.

Your rights

Since we do not collect or receive any personal data, there is no data held by us to access, correct, port or erase. Data-subject rights under the GDPR and similar laws are satisfied directly in the app: your data is in your possession, exportable, and deletable at any time.

Children

The app is intended for users aged 13 and over (16 and over where required by local law). It is not directed at younger children and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone.

Future changes — advertising and optional accounts

This version collects nothing. Features that would involve data leaving your device are not present today and would be introduced only as follows:

• Advertising. A future version may include advertising. Ad networks typically require an advertising identifier. If that is ever introduced, this policy will be updated first, the store’s data-safety disclosures will be updated in the same release, and where the law requires it (including the EU/EEA and the UK) you will be asked for consent before any advertising identifier is used. Health data will never be used to target advertising.
• Optional account or backup. A future version may offer optional sign-in and encrypted backup. It would be strictly opt-in, off by default, and the app would ask you explicitly before transmitting anything.

Until such a version ships, nothing described in this section is active.

Apple Health, Clue and Flo are trademarks of their respective owners, referenced only to describe file formats the app can read. No affiliation or endorsement is implied.
